Increase Performance for your LAN

I've found a great way to increase your bandwidth of your LAN if you are using Windows XP Pro. Unfortunately, this does not work for Windows XP Home.

Make sure your have admin access.
The steps are:
  • Start-> Run-> type gpedit.msc
  • Expand the [Administrative Templates] branch under [Local Computer Policy]
  • Expand the [Network] branch
  • Highlight [QoS Packet Scheduler]
  • Double-click [Limit Reservable Bandwidth]
  • Check [Enabled]
  • Change [Bandwidth limit %] to 0 %
  • Click [Apply] [OK]
  • Restart (Reboot)
The effect of this should be immediate, but to be sure, reboot and you will enjoy the full bandwidth of your LAN.

For further info and testimonals, check out this site.

cheers,
